The Otopian Ocean is recognized as such due to one of the largest naval powers in Eterinin, the island nation of Otopia, calling the islands in the middle of this vast body of water home. Patroled by the Otopians and often having conflicts interceded by them within the waters, this ocean as a whole is often called the Otopian homeland.
Travelers and mariners through the ocean have no worries of the Otopians outside of a few dozen miles off their islands, unless they start conflicts within the ocean. This peacekeeping force and relatively easy navigation in the waters also contributes to the use of Eriratrem as a resting place.
